Cardiff (Welsh: Caerdydd) is the capital of Wales in the United Kingdom and is located in the south of the country. Though it had a reputation of being a rough, industrial city, Cardiff has changed dramatically in recent years. The main airport is Cardiff International Airport. This is the only major airport in Wales and is situated some 12 miles to the south-west of the city in the Vale of Glamorgan. The airport is served by a number of airlines including low-cost airline bmibaby, which operates a number of domestic and foreign flights, and other airlines, including Flybe, KLM Airlines, Thomsonfly and Skybus. Cardiff Airport is the only airport in Wales offering international scheduled flights; it is served by scheduled, low-fare, business and charter airlines; and also supports corporate and general air travel. The majority of international flights are to Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands. Cardiff, especially the central area, is pretty compact with the main attractions being quite close to each other making getting around on foot quite easy. Cardiff Bus offer a comprehensive network of services across the city, to the nearby City of Newport and to destinations in the Vale of Glamorgan. For a different experience, travel on the River Taff Waterbus, which runs regularly during the summer season between the Millennium Stadium and Cardiff Bay. The Wales Millennium Centre is a great piece of modern architecture, opened in 2004 by the Queen, the futuristic Wales Millennium Centre is host to a opera, dance and musicals throughout the year, making it a must see for those who like Welsh theatre.
